Intention & Goal Setting for 2021
Reading Time: 2 minutes
I am not into “New year resolutions”. I believe it doesn’t matter what time of the day, year etc it is. If you truly desire change; anytime is a good time.
But as we step into 2021, I do invite you to consider how you could be possibly be living your best life. What do you want for yourself? What do you need to live your best life? What are the things that are holding you back? Is the change you want realistic and achievable for you now?
Tips for Setting your 2021 Intention
Desire for Change
The first step we need to take to begin the process of change is to have the strong desire to do so. You need that strong will. You have to have a real hunger for what you want to achieve. That is the force that will drive you. It starts with that strong desire within, and an intention to take action.
Visualise in your mind’s eye your life as though you have already reached this goal.
Give yourself a realistic timeline. Write out possible setbacks and have a plan on how to conquer them.
Write it Out
We write it out, and we create a realistic plan for change. Journal out your plan step by step (use the journal to write out your feelings too, and use post it notes in your home/workspace so your intention is seen everywhere).
As I tell my clients, make the process enjoyable, and achievable. Don’t let it be a burden or just another “thing to do” because it won’t be sustainable. We want the change to be sustainable.
If you want to improve your health fitness and you are a beginner, you start small.
You may wake half an hour earlier and go for a short walk for the first few days, you may begin to incorporate more fruit and veggies (better to incorporate more goodness rather than cutting things out and feeling a sense of lack). Begin to visualize yourself looking the way you want. Notice how you feel with an abundance of energy, wellness and confidence.
Once you have nailed these things, you will naturally want to create more positive changes (you may walk longer, or incorporate a light jog, reduce sugar or alcohol). All because you will start feeling so good.
You will begin the snowball effect in a positive way, because the better you begin to feel, the more your life will start to shift and you will create a life on which you enjoy and feel amazing!
- No matter the time of the year, intentions help clarify your goals.
- Write down realistic and enjoyable intentions.
- Picture yourself achieving your goals. How does it feel? What does it look like?
