It’s common during pregnancy to feel tired and run down. Your body is changing a lot. You may feel pregnancy-related pain such as:

  • Back pain

  • Headaches

  • Pelvic pain

  • Wrist pain

  • Leg pain

  • Morning sickness

  • Muscles tightness

Safe acupuncture techniques at all stages of pregnancy and beyond

Acupuncture is a safe and commonly recommended therapy for pregnancy. Many midwives and obstetricians suggest acupuncture for their patients.

Acupuncture points are carefully chosen with both the baby and mother in mind. During early pregnancy, the goal is to build energy and settle morning sickness. In the later stages of pregnancy, birth preparation begins from 34 weeks with induction techniques added from 37 weeks.

After birth, during the fourth trimester, the focus returns to building your energy and supporting healing.

Pregnancy FAQs

Are there any side effects?

As with all therapies, there is the possibility. That’s why we spend time speaking with you to understand you and your prior conditions, medications taken, how your pregnancy is going, and more.

Acupuncture is generally considered safe but there’s the potential to pull up a little tired or have a headache after treatment. If you experience any side effects, please speak to your Chinese Medicine Doctor.

Can I get a rebate on pregnancy services?

Most private health insurance extra will cover you if you have extras cover

If you have private health insurance with extras cover for Chinese Medicine or Acupuncture, you may get a rebate for your appointment. We offer instant rebates so you’ll just have the gap to pay.

Do you have female acupuncturists?

Yes. All our pregnancy acupuncturists are female. They are caring and empathetic about the unique changes that happen in your body during and after pregnancy.

Do you have pregnancy props for the session?

We have adjustable tables that raise and lower along with pregnancy pillows. Also, we’re on the ground floor so no need to worry about walking upstairs. Best of all, we frequently treat swollen ankles, muscle weakness, back and pelvic pain that make stairs a challenge during pregnancy.
