Chiropractic Therapies

Adjustments

Chiropractic adjustments are gentle and quick joint mobilisations. They sometimes let out a little pop. This is just one tool that our Chiropractors use, and it’s not for everyone.

Sacro-Occipital Technique (SOT)

An extremely gentle technique. Wedges, called “blocks”, are positioned under the pelvis to ease tension. Cranial therapy is performed to promote the normal rhythmic movement of the cerebrospinal fluid that bathes the brain and spinal cord.

This technique is commonly used with kids, elderly, later stages of pregnancy, acute disc injuries and anyone who enjoys a softer approach.

Thompson Drop Piece

We have specialised chiropractic tables with lots of moveable pieces. These tables drop down to free tension in joints.

Activator

Fondly referred to by our patients as “the clicky thing”. The activator gently frees jammed joints while you remain restfully lying down. We can also use the activator while you are moving, like hopping, squatting or throwing a ball.

Specific Massage

Chiropractors undergo a full year of training in massage techniques. This includes stretches, muscle energy techniques, trigger point therapy, sports massage and effleurage.

At each session, our chiropractors will provide a targeted massage to complement the other therapies used.

Rehab Exercises

Your chiropractor will write you a rehabilitation program to increase your muscle strength, improve your posture & alignment and give you more flexibility.

Our chiropractors are trained in various types including:

Cold Laser Therapy

Cold laser heals, reduces inflammation and relieves pain using light stimulation. Yes, it’s as gentle as it sounds!

Cold laser is used for:

  • Chronic pain such as fibromyalgia

  • Injury repair of sprains, strains and sports injuries

  • Reducing inflammation of tendinitis and bursitis

  • Reducing muscle spasm

Cold laser is used by our chiropractors along with adjustments, massage, rehab and other therapies.

TENS Therapy

Nerves carry messages from the brain to every cell of our body. The nerves tell the muscles to contract, the gut to digest, the heart to pump.

TENS machines stimulate the nerves to reduce pain. Or even to relax or rehabilitate muscles.

TENS and other advanced machines are used by our Chiropractors, Remedial Massage Therapists and Myotherapists.

Neuro-Modulation

Neuro-Modulation stimulates the nerves in a similar way to a TENS machine.

We use specialised equipment to non-invasively stimulate the vagus and trigeminal nerves.

Vagal nerve stimulation enhances parasympathetic (rest & digest) system and has promising results with tinnitus and migraines. The trigeminal nerve provides sensation and pain to the face.

We incorporate neuro-modulation techniques into our Neuro-Rehabilitation consults with our Chiropractors.

Electrically-Guided Rehab

You know you need to do you rehab. You understand why you need to do it. Yet you can’t seem to find the motivation to actually do it!

As part of our Chiropractic consultations, we’ll perform your rehabilitation exercises coupled with electrically stimulating the muscles to enhance the muscular contractions.

It’s not painful, but you’ll feel like you’ve done a workout afterwards. People often see changes in their pain after a single session of this intensive style of rehab training.

Prologel

Prologo is a specially formulated cream for treating nerve pain. It was developed using the latest clinical neuroscience and biochemistry research.

This high-tech gel is used by our Chiropractors who have specialised training in Functional Neuro-Orthopaedic Rehabilitation.

Dry Needling

Fine needles are inserted into the muscles. You may feel a twitch or grab as the muscle releases.

Cupping

Suction cups create a gentle pull on the skin. This creates space for the muscles and fascial to move freely.

Please note that some of these techniques are performed by all of our chiropractors. Others are only performed by those who have undertaken advanced studies in the area. Please check out our practitioner profiles or give us a call to find out who performs a technique of interest to you.
